Last night the USGBC Charlotte Region Chapter hosted its annual Green Gala and Silent Auction at The Ritz Carlton, Charlotte. Charlotte’s Green Gala was held in conjunction with the 5th annual Sustainable Business Awards which celebrated sustainable growth in our region. The keynote speaker was Laura Turner Seydel, a national environmental advocate and eco-living expert dedicated to creating a healthy and sustainable future for our children.  She spoke on the many important reasons to support healthy, high-performing schools for healthy, high-performing students. Our own Whitney Bauman was proud to have worked on the Silent Auction committee.  Whitney reported nearly 400 people attended and the evening was a great success.

USGBC, LEED-Certified buildings total over 2 million square feet worldwide

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) today announced that the total footprint of commercial projects certified under its LEED green building program surpassed two billion square feet. An additional seven billion square feet is currently in the pipeline across the globe as registered projects.

We have completed many LEED-Certified building projects.  Several years ago, A&K Painting Co. became the first and only Charlotte painting contractor to become involved with the USGBC and have a staff member become LEED AP Certified.  We  fully modify and adopted policy to enable full operational capability on LEED projects and operate a more sustainable business.  We authored and delivered national training for the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) at multiple national events and many regional events.  We are an award winning Green Business.

Charlotte CRE Pros New Resource

A major goal achieved with building our new OTS (Operations Training Showroom) was to establish a first class training center and showroom for our customers and their clients.  Combined with our showroom where customers can bring their clients to see life size samples of colors, wallcoverings and finishes of all types, the training center provides a wonderful venue property management and commercial real estate pros can utilize.  Learning about new types of paints, coatings, wallcoverings, decorative finishes and other special application methods is just the start.  We provide training on LEED and other Green and Sustainable resources, color and design elements and maintenance or finishes.
Providing resources and training advantages for CRE Pros is part of the mission of A&K Painting Company’s OTS.  Add in the ability to see full-size samples of various finishes in our showroom provides great value not available anywhere else in the Charlotte area.  Our training center and showroom are available for you and your team now.  How can we be of assistance to you and your team?

David is our Senior Property Management Sales Manager & Estimator.  We take this opportunity to thank you for ten years of excellent work and service to the company and the wonderful relationships you maintain for A&K.  We’re very proud of you and recognize the contribution you make in helping us maintain the position we enjoy in the industry.  Congratulations David!
